Entry Way Decorating

I'm going to try to link up to the Cottage Instincts McLinky Party Made It With What I Had. This is only my third post so wish me luck!

All of the items that are hanging near our back door were things that I had collected over the years knowing that I would use them somehow. These items include:

1) a bell my sister got for a wedding gift in the early 90's - I spray painted the black metal a textured deep brown

2) an old mailbox from my sister's first house - this was also black and got the same paint

3) a small gold row of birds with hooks - ditto on the paint and attached to a painted and distressed backer board

4) I save the best for last. It's the door knocker from my Grandma's front door. After she passed away and the front door of the house was replaced, I got to keep the knocker. That one also got some paint and then I made a frame for it out of some wood I had around the house.

So, here are the pictures of my Made It With What I Had decorating:

I think they make a nice little grouping, I hope you do, too.

  1. I think they go great together and each one has some special meaning or memory attached. I especially love the door knocker! Nice post!

  2. I love the wall, and I bet you smile everytime you look at the door knocker.

  3. Oh I love this great that there's memories connected. I'm digging the rustic, uniqueness of each of the pieces. I'll look forward to seeing what other creative ideas you come up with :O)

thanks for linking up to the party!

  4. Love this - especially adding you Grandma's door knocker to the grouping. I've just added myself as a "Follower". :)

    Enjoy your day,

  5. Very cute! You did a great job!

  6. So wonderful - the grouping is striking and it is doubly good because it is full of things that are dear to you.

  7. That is really lovely! It looks so good all grouped together, and I especially like the story of the door knocker.
    Welcome to blogging!

  8. Very nice! Love the grouping and welcome to the world of blogging! (I have only been out here for like a month - I hope you find it as fun as I do!)

  9. They do make a nice grouping. And I love that you kept the knocker. I would have never thought to keep my Grandma's. But then she didn't have a knocker on her door.

  10. So many great projects as I look through your blog.
