I have seen so many great chalkboards on blogs and have been so envious! So, when I spotted this dresser mirror for only $5 I knew just what to do with it.
I know it's hard to focus on the mirror with all the mess in the photo, but trust me there is a mirror there :)
And it has these little finials shaped like globes that I knew would be perfect for stringing a banner from.
Aren't they cute?
So, I removed the glass, painted the backer board with chalkboard paint and painted the frame. This was going to hang in my dining area so I used my paint that was color-matched to my kitchen cabinets and then added a little glaze like on the cabinets. I can't decide if I should paint the globes, so for now they are in their original finish.
I made two bunting banners and a pumpkin wreath for a layered effect. And here she is - TADA! My very own chalkboard to decorate for every season or write notes or post menus....
(And yes, that is a unpainted patched spot on the wall. Just keeping it real!)
Thanks for stopping by!
